English version

I published an app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch: Vol Pratique. It is a training flight logbook, made for student pilots and pilots who practice: prepare the flight on the ground, tap one button at each step in flight, and the logbook fills itself.

In flight: engine time, air time, current leg, squawk and landing button The logbook: day and night totals, flights by month Flight details: circuit track, altitude and ground speed

Before the flight, pick the aircraft and the airports, fetch the METAR (through CheckWX, with your own free key), note the planned exercises, and the app tells you when civil twilight ends. In flight, everything fits in one big button: start the engine, takeoff, landing, shutdown. Around it: engine time, air time, current leg, a lap timer, the squawk code always in sight and a scratchpad for a clearance, drawn with a pencil or a finger. The GPS track is recorded even with the screen locked, and the flight in progress shows on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island.

The logbook does the math: flight time, night time, day and night takeoffs and landings. Night starts at the end of civil twilight, with two ways to count: takeoff and landing both at night, or takeoffs and landings separately. Every flight has its map, altitude and ground speed profile, log and weather; it gives a PDF report or a GPX file, and the whole logbook exports to CSV. You can also add flights by hand and carry over your previous experience.

On the Apple Watch: the flight in progress and the landing button

On the Apple Watch, you drive the iPhone's flight from your wrist while the iPhone stays on the kneeboard; or the watch records the flight on its own and sends it to the iPhone afterwards.

Flights stay on your device, one GPX file per flight in the Files app. No account, no ads, no tracking. Vol Pratique helps keep a personal logbook; it does not replace the official journey log, the instruments or official weather.
